The Dalles - Internet changes

Information regarding changes to internet usage

The Dalles-Wasco County Library have changed how the internet can be accessed by the public. These changes are meant to make using the internet easier and to ensure fair usage.

#1. Your library card (the card number and your pin number) will be needed to log onto the internet.  There can be no exceptions.  Replacement cards can be obtained at the front desk for a fee of .50 cents.  Visitors to The Dalles-Wasco County Library can get a guest pass at the front desk.

#2 New computer software will time each user's internet usage.  Users will get no more than one hour of internet usage per day.  This time can be spread out over the day or used all at once.  You will be disconnected at the end of the hour so please pay attention to the time you have left to prevent any loss of data.

#3 You will need to sign up for a computer station by talking to the person at the front desk, who will then register you on a station (using your library card) or you may sign up at the quick reference station at the front desk.

It will no longer be necessary to sign up for a computer station in the computer sign in sheet located at the front desk. Signing up for a computer station will, instead, be done on the computer. You will not be able to access the internet without signing up.
